Friendship Force, (http://www.thefriendshipforce.org) an Atlanta-based international cultural exchange organization is teaming up with NPCA to look for exchange leaders for their 2009 exchange programs in more than 50 countries worldwide.
Exchange leaders should fit the following profile:
- Aged 40 – 65
- Have good health and mobility
- Are interested in cultural exchange
- Would like to talk with FFI about the position of volunteer leading on one of our programs
- Language skills are a plus for certain destinations, but are not required
Friendship Force International has a national recruiting system for exchange participants; the leader would be required to supplement this recruitment by inviting those in their personal and professional network to join the exchange.
The leader would work with FFI staff to design the itinerary (unless it was already a set itinerary as is the case for some of our programs) and would be responsible for giving the participants cultural and destination-specific information by email or mail.
The leader should also collect payments from the participants and forward them to FFI. If at least 20 fully-paid participants are recruited for the exchange, the leader’s way is paid for (with less than 20 fully-paid participants the leader’s costs are discounted on a prorated basis.)
Finally, the leader is responsible for leading the group once the exchange is underway and representing the group at any official functions in the host community. Further details are available in our training materials which include a leaders DVD and handbook...and of course FFI staff are always on hand for support as well.
If you are interested please contact Debbie Powell at dpowell@thefriendshipforce.org for more information. In your message please tell us:
a) why you are interested in leading one of our cultural exchange programs
b) a little about your overseas experience and leadership experience
c) which areas of the world interest you specifically, and why.
