As noted in previous posts, the recent elimination of international surface mail has been a blow to the Peace Corps community and all those who support grassroots humanitarian projects overseas.
On Thursday, July 12, Jonathan Pearson of NPCA (standing right) and Michael Quint (standing left), representing the “Coalition to Restore International Surface Mail Service,” held four meetings on Capitol Hill with the staff of key subcommittees that deal with postal issues. They also hand-delivered petitions to save the mail service which have now been signed by over 3,500 people. The staff indicated that they would examine the issue and consider possible future steps.
We encourage you to contact subcommittee members and urge them to reconsider this change in postal rates. Click here for new information on how to take additional action.
