Climate change is already having a devastating impact on impoverished nations, which are least responsible for the climate crisis and least able to cope with its impacts.
Inthe House of Representatives, Congressman Henry Waxman (D-CA) is deciding this week on whether to provide funding in a climate bill to help millions of the world's most impoverished people to deal with the disproportionate impacts of climate change.
A "Dear Colleague" letter that your Congressman/woman can sign onto is circulating right now urging Congressman Waxman to include support for impoverished communities in comprehensive climate change legislation. Please contact your Congressman/woman and urge them to sign this letter.

- If you are not sure who your Congressman/woman is, go to www.house.gov and enter your nine-digit zip code in the upper left corner.
- If you are a constituent of Representatives Payne (NJ), Faleomavaega (Amer. Samoa), McGovern (MA), Braley (IA) or McCollum (MN): These lawmakers are authors of the letter. Your message to them should be "THANK YOU for circulating a climate change Dear Colleague letter expressing the needs of the world's most vulnerable people."
- If you are a constituent of Representative Waxman, please urge him to "include funding provisions in climate change legislation to support and protect the world's most vulnerable people."
- For all other Reps, contact their Washington DC office and ask them to "sign the Payne Dear Colleague letter to provide support for the world's most impoverished people in coping with climate change."
- Please share this email with 5 - 10 other people you know and urge them to take action.
